Homemade Salsa

Now that summer is over, the blogging will be much more sporadic, I'm certain. School has started for both the kiddos and myself, but that doesn't mean I don't find myself thinking up 100 things to do. Recently this was on my things-to-do list. The harvest of my tomatoes from my garden had me wanting to can tomatoes and make salsa. In the past I've also just bought the packet and dumped it in and done. It's ok. Nothing to write home about. So I decided to go out to my favorite social media tool- Pinterest.  Ta-da. I found this pin for the best salsa recipe

I'll save you the time of trying others. This is so good. Go ahead and do yourself the favor of whipping this up. If you have a garden, go ahead and get as much as you can fresh. I only have the tomatoes, but I bought the other ingredients locally.

YOU NEED:

1/2 bushel tomatoes
5 large yellow onions
5 large green bell peppers
1/4 cup salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup vinegar
6 jalapenos for mild salsa- add more if you want kick! USE GLOVES when you chop them up.
1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Mind you, I was doing this at 1 a.m. It's the time I have to myself after the kiddos have went to bed, I've completed all my other work around the house and I can actually devote some time to my things-to-do list that isn't as pressing as work or family commitments. I'm not going to write out step-by-step instructions, as the original post that is linked here does an excellent job walking you through the steps. Just know that it's worth your time. I wish I could attach smell to this blog post. You'd make it yet today!
