Looking for Fun in Town

Thanks to my friend who posted pictures early in the morning, I was able to see that there was a Health Expo in downtown Lima at the Civic Center. I told the kids to quickly get on their clothes and shoes and we could head that way. We only had 75 minutes until it closed, so it was going to be a fast trip. Jeremy agreed to go along, which is always nice to have an extra set of eyes.

They had roughly 20+ booths set up in the Civic Center with sponsors and venders sharing each organization's mission. Lots of free give-a-aways and useful information on healthy things to become involved with throughout the Lima-land.

Outside they had several bounce houses set up for the kids to play. Both kids loved the super long obstacle course bounce house they were able to race through. There was also a zip line, which Isaac attempted to do, but got scared at the top and walked back down. First time we have seen him chicken out on something. Shocked us!

Ice Cream Social

Ok, so maybe I'm a sucker for ice cream. No, those who know me well KNOW I'm a sucker for the deliciousness. So when the fancy invite came in the mail that Lima Community Church in our backyard was hosting a block party ice cream social, you can bet that I'll be there.

No rain was going to keep us away. It hasn't rained in a week and half, but about 30 minutes before the event, it pours. Luckily they have a auxiliary building for back up.  Large enough for tables and bounce houses and games galore, it still took place.

Yes, our neighbors were there. Check. Yes, our church family was there.  (this is where we attend church- double bonus!). Check. Yes, there we amazing bounce houses and games for the kiddos to go nuts.  Check. But let's get real.  Let's talk about the AMAZING ice cream. I'm not 100% who they had, but they hired people who made homemade ice cream. To say it was good was an understatement.  Never mind that I haven't had anything but Halo ice cream for the last month, watching my calories. That all went out the window. I wish I would have taken a picture of the deliciousness!

The kiddos had fun bouncing and sprinting through the bounce house obstacle course. In fact, I don't believe Isaac even had ice cream because he was too busy with his friends. We literally shut the place down. They kicked us out at 8:45 p.m. or our kiddos would have bounced until midnight!

Thank you Lima Community Church for hosting a great evening. Last year it was a hula, this year a ice cream social. Can't wait to see what the theme is next year!

The Birthday Bounce

Not far from our home is a really cool bounce house called The Kangaroo Cave. They have open bounce hours on the weekends for a reasonable price, but we've also been invited to birthday parties at this fun place. Today was for such an occasion. Isaac was invited to one of his classmates birthday party and Olivia was able to tag along to play. 

What's really neat about the Kangaroo Cave is that there are several bounce houses (like think 6-10) set up at the same time. They tend to rotate these throughout the year so if you want to sign up for their "Cooper Card," a loyalty program, you get to see and play on a variety of different bounce house. 

I think it's important to know that socks are required (especially when thinking of summer months) or you'll end up buying some there. Don't worry, there is plenty of opportunity to dump extra dough if you have it to spend. The zoo creation station is similar to a build-a-bear in that you create your own stuffed animal complete with an outfit. Of course if you get hungry and you're not part of a birthday party, there is a snack counter to grab a drink or snack. No outside food or drink is permitted, so after an hour of cardio in the bounce house, most kiddos want a drink- so be prepared.

They do have staff at each of the bounce houses to help monitor rowdy children or to help coordinate when it's safe to slide down some of the larger bounce activities. So if you are looking for something with a little bounce, be sure to check out The Kangaroo Cave.
